About Informants |
Informants are non-player characters who you can hire to provide you with information about what is going on. A good informant can tip you off to price changes, or warn you about potential encounters.
Informants are specific to a certain location. When you hire an informant for a location (such as Manhattan), that informant will provide you with information related to that location only. To get information about what is going on in many different locations, you'll need to hire many different informants.
An important part of dealing with informants is the lines of communication. To get tipped off effectively, you'll need a way for your informants to contact you. Consider buying a pager or cell phone in the store.
Hiring Informants |
To hire a new informant, click the Hire Informant button in the Informant Manager. This will launch the 'Hire New Informant' interface where you can select a informant to hire. The informants available for hire will vary by location.
Each available informant has a variety of details listed:
To hire a informant, select the informant and click Hire Informant. This will open the payment selection window, where you select how you would like to pay your informant.
Firing Informants |
To fire a informant, select the informant in the Informant Manager and click Fire Informant.
Using Informants |
The most important way you'll use an informant is to get tips. To do this, all you need to do is hire informants, and have some way of communicating with them. You're informant will let you know when they have something to tell you.
At any time, you can see a list of any informant's tips. In the Informant Manager, double click on any informant in the list.
